Mumbai-based AltUni, an alternative digital university founded in 2020 by Ankit Doshi, recently secured $500,000 in funding, as reported by Entrepreneur India. The funding round was spearheaded by the Indian Angel Network and saw participation from a group of prominent angel investors. Notable contributors in this funding round included Vishesh C Chandiok (CEO of Grant Thornton Bharat LLP), Ganesh Balakrishnan, Harsh Parikh, Narayan Babu, Supreet Singh, Ashvin George, Prashant Mohanraj, Shreyans Mehta, Amit Monteiro, Raghav Joshi, Mainak Shome, Bhoopesh Jain, Sandeep Bhadresa, and several others.
AltUni specializes in offering short, immersive online learning modules. While it doesn’t confer traditional degrees or diplomas, it serves as a bridge connecting learners with industry leaders. Additionally, AltUni provides opportunities for learners to interview with some of India’s leading companies. This recent funding comes on the heels of a previous angel round in February the previous year when AltUni raised $0.5 million with support from investors including Amit Gupta, Mukesh Maniar, Rahul Gupta, Gautam Gurnani, Rajit Desai, Vandana Serrao, Saloni Doshi, Suhani Doshi, and Saurav Tibrewal.
