Cloud-Based Storage App DigiLocker Crosses 100 Million Users

DigiLocker, a software that allows users to digitise and save a copy of over 560 different Indian documents, including government-issued ID cards, has reached 100 million users.

The app is the Centre’s initiative to build a paperless government environment, which was conceived roughly six years ago by India’s Ministry of Electronics and IT.

DigiLocker aims to provide citizens with “digital empowerment” by granting them access to authentic digital documents kept in their digital document wallet.

DigiLocker, which was founded six years ago, intends to build a paperless governance ecosystem, reducing the need for physical papers and facilitating easy submission.
