ZincSearch raises $3.6 mn in seed funding

ZincSearch, a full-text search engine, announced a $3.6 million seed funding round led by Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from Dell Technologies Capital, Secure Octane, Cardinia Ventures, and technology leaders including Anand Babu Periasamy, Balaji Parimi, Rob Skillington, Anshu Sharma, Luke Kim, Awais Nemat, Dan Pinto, and Alex Gallegos.

ZincSearch was founded by Prabhat Sharma, a former AWS solutions architect, after noticing that major enterprise customers were having substantial cost and maintainability issues searching and managing their data.

Zinc began as an open source project on GitHub and has now grown to over 7,900 stars, making it one of the fastest-growing open source enterprise projects in the previous 12 months.

Zinc is based on the idea that setting up and running a search engine should not take up a lot of time. Zinc is built on a modern technology stack of Go and VueJS, which allows for quick development and iteration, as well as simple operations and low resource usage for consumers. In comparison to its competitors, zinc requires far fewer resources.
