Ahmedabad, India — January 2026: Venture capital firm GVFL Ltd. has led a ₹6 crore pre-Series A funding round in insideFPV, a Gujarat-based defence drone technology startup specializing in indigenous, battlefield-ready unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for India’s armed forces.
The funding marks a major milestone for India’s growing defence-tech and aerospace innovation ecosystem, as the country pushes for self-reliance in advanced drone manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
Funding Purpose and Growth Strategy
The Shark Tank India-featured startup said it will deploy the fresh capital towards product development, engineering capability enhancement, and manufacturing scalability to meet the demands of India’s defence and security sectors.
A portion of the funds will also be allocated for rigorous testing and validation, expanding production infrastructure, and strengthening deployment support systems — including operator training, spare part supply, and rapid repair services for deployed units.
InsideFPV: Building India’s Battlefield-Ready Drone Fleet
Founded in 2020 by Arth Chowdhary, Deyvant Bhardwaj, and Oshi Kumari, insideFPV designs and manufactures combat-ready drones capable of operating in harsh environments and active battlefield conditions.
The company’s current product line includes:
-
FPV (First-Person View) drones for tactical missions
-
Kamikaze drones for offensive strike applications
-
Interceptor drones for neutralizing aerial threats
-
Surveillance and reconnaissance platforms for real-time intelligence gathering
Each drone is designed with indigenous technology, enabling real-time control, modular payload systems, and encrypted communication capabilities to ensure battlefield reliability.
Scaling for Defence Manufacturing and Global Markets
With this investment, insideFPV plans to expand its product range and scale production capacity over the next 12 months. The company’s long-term goal is to position itself as a global defence drone manufacturer, exporting India-made UAVs to friendly nations and strategic partners within the next three to five years.
Speaking about the investment, GVFL highlighted the startup’s potential to advance India’s military drone ecosystem, particularly in low-latency FPV control, tactical mobility, and indigenous defence-grade engineering — key areas where domestic innovation can reduce dependency on foreign systems.
India’s Defence Drone Landscape: A Growing Frontier
India’s defence drone sector is witnessing rapid growth, driven by strong government support, strategic partnerships, and demand from the Indian Army, Air Force, and paramilitary forces. The Ministry of Defence has identified drone warfare, autonomous surveillance, and swarm technology as top national security priorities.
According to market analysts, India’s military drone industry is projected to cross $2.5 billion by 2030, creating vast opportunities for startups like insideFPV that can deliver affordable, locally manufactured unmanned systems built to global standards.
