Torrent Pharmaceuticals Appoints Geena Malhotra as Chief Technology Officer

AHMEDABAD, India | February 2, 2026Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited has announced the appointment of Geena Malhotra as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective February 1, 2026. With this appointment, Malhotra joins Torrent Pharma’s senior leadership team and will lead the company’s technology, innovation, and digital transformation agenda.

Nearly Four Decades of Global Pharmaceutical Experience

Malhotra brings close to 40 years of global experience in the pharmaceutical industry, spanning research and development, manufacturing, supply chain management, sustainability, and technology leadership. Her appointment comes as Torrent Pharmaceuticals continues to strengthen its focus on innovation-led growth and advanced drug development.

Prior to joining Torrent Pharma, Malhotra served as Managing Director at Signet Excipients, where she led strategic growth initiatives, innovation partnerships, and digital transformation across pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical segments since June 2024.

Three-Decade Leadership Tenure at Cipla

Before her role at Signet Excipients, Malhotra spent over 30 years at Cipla Ltd., holding several senior global leadership positions. She served as Global Chief Technology Officer and President from 2018 to 2024, and earlier as President and Global Head of Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain Management, and Devices between 2013 and 2018.

From 1994 to 2013, she was Global Head – Integrated Product Development, and between 1986 and 1994, she held leadership roles in research and development. During her tenure, Malhotra played a key role in driving global product development, operational excellence, and innovation across formulations, inhalation devices, and advanced drug delivery systems.

Strong Track Record in Innovation and Patents

According to company disclosures, Malhotra has been instrumental in securing approximately 50 international patents related to formulations, inhalation devices, and drug delivery technologies. These innovations support commercial pharmaceutical products marketed in more than 80 countries, underlining her impact on global healthcare delivery.

Industry Recognition and Awards

Malhotra’s contributions to pharmaceutical innovation and leadership have been widely recognised. Her accolades include the Eminent Scientist Award (2024), the FDD Leadership Award (2017), the Thomson Reuters Innovation Award (2012), and the Eminent Researcher Award from the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (2007).

Academic Background

She holds an Executive MBA from Washington University in St. Louis – Olin Business School and a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from SNDT University, Mumbai.

Torrent Pharmaceuticals also clarified that there is no relationship between directors in connection with Malhotra’s appointment, in line with regulatory disclosures.
