In a significant boost to Kerala’s digital infrastructure ambitions, Dubai-based AI data centre company Solstice Data has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) to set up a large-scale data centre project worth ₹52,600 crore at the KINFRA Industrial Park in Mattannur, Kannur district.
As per media reports, the agreement marks one of the largest private investments in Kerala’s emerging technology and digital economy sector.
Key Highlights of the Deal
As per the official statement, under the terms of the MoU, 100 acres of land within the Mattannur Industrial Park will be allocated to Solstice Data for the development of its advanced computing facilities. The total planned investment is expected to be phased out over a five-to-seven-year period.
The agreement was formally exchanged in Thiruvananthapuram between Raj Babu Thulaseedharan, Country Head (India) of Solstice Data, and Santhosh Koshy Thomas, Managing Director of KINFRA. As per media reports, beyond its Dubai headquarters, the company currently oversees more than 60 data centre projects across international markets, including the United States and Canada — reflecting its strong global operational footprint.
About the KINFRA Mattannur Industrial Park
The KINFRA Industrial Park in Mattannur spans a total of 175 acres, of which 123 acres have been developed and made ready for industrial use. As per media reports, the park’s 36,000-square-foot Standard Design Factory has been fully allotted, and land has been granted to 12 other enterprises operating within the facility.
The agreement with Solstice Data effectively accounts for the remaining 100 acres of available land — a development that signals the park’s full-capacity industrial utilisation and a major milestone for the Kannur region’s industrial growth story.
What This Means for Kerala’s Digital Economy
As per media reports, Kerala Industries Minister P. Rajeev stated that this data centre, which will be developed in collaboration with local partners, is poised to unlock significant opportunities within the state’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The investment aligns with Kerala’s broader push to position itself as a hub for technology infrastructure, AI, and data-driven industries in South India. With global tech companies increasingly eyeing India’s tier-2 and tier-3 locations for large-scale digital infrastructure, Solstice Data’s entry into Kannur could catalyse further investment interest in the region.
