Adani Digital Labs, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), has agreed to acquire Trainman, an online train booking and information platform, for an undisclosed sum. AEL disclosed in a regulatory filing that its subsidiary, Adani Digital Labs Private Limited, has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire 100% stake in Stark Enterprises Private Limited (SEPL), also known as Trainman. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Trainman, founded in 2016 by Vineet Chirania and Karan Kumar, both alumni of IIT Roorkee, is an authorized online train ticket booking platform that provides services such as booking tickets, checking PNR status, coach positions, live train status, and seat availability. The startup had previously raised $744,000 in funding from venture capital investors, including GoodWater Capital and Ivy Growth Associates, as well as angel investors.
After the acquisition, Trainman will become part of Adani Group’s subsidiary, Adani Digital Lab. The move marks Adani Group’s entry into the online train booking segment, expanding its digital presence in the transportation and logistics sector. The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed by the company.
