Tally Raises $8M Series A to Power the Future of DAO Governance

Tally, a pioneer in decentralized governance tooling, has successfully raised $8 million in Series A funding. The capital will be used to scale its governance technology and deepen adoption across leading crypto-native DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations).

The round aims to bolster Tally’s core mission: enabling efficient, transparent, and scalable on-chain governance for some of the most prominent blockchain protocols, including Arbitrum, Uniswap DAO, ZKsync, Wormhole, Eigenlayer, Obol, and Hyperlane.

“We’ve built a comprehensive software stack that helps organizations manage governance entirely on-chain — from ideation to token launch and community ownership,” said Dennison Bertram, CEO and co-founder of Tally, in an interview with CoinDesk.

From Governance Tool to Ecosystem Backbone

Originally launched as a DAO governance tool, Tally Protocol has evolved into a widely adopted infrastructure platform for on-chain organizations, powering governance on major blockchains like Ethereum and Solana.

Tally’s vision centers around transforming traditional legal and operational structures by replacing them with software-driven, permissionless governance systems, effectively reducing the cost and complexity of forming and operating global organizations.

Addressing Governance Challenges in DAOs

One of the biggest hurdles DAOs face today is low voter participation and community apathy, which can lead to controversial decisions and governance gridlocks. Tally plans to address this with improved tooling and user experience powered by the latest funding.

A notable example is the goldCOMP proposal within CompoundDAO, which passed due to low engagement but was later rescinded after widespread backlash.

“DAO governance is a democratic system, but it’s not without its flaws. Our goal is to improve participation and ensure the integrity of decentralized decision-making,” added Bertram.

Redefining the Future of On-Chain Organizations

As DAOs continue to rise as an alternative to traditional organizations, Tally positions itself at the forefront of Web3 governance evolution. The firm believes that on-chain organizations could one day rival traditional institutions, offering borderless and efficient mechanisms for collective ownership and decision-making.
