Fremont, California-based Water Harvesting Inc. (WaHa), a leading climate technology startup, has secured $8 million in Series A-1 funding to scale its next-generation atmospheric water generation (AWG) systems. The round also included a corporate reorganization, aimed at streamlining operations and fueling commercial expansion in global arid regions.
The funding round was led by Chairman Mike Phillips and Board Member Christian Thirion, with strong support from existing noteholders and strategic investors such as Berkeley Catalyst Fund, Anthropocene Institute, Vestafund, and Mitsui Mining & Smelting Co., Ltd.
This latest infusion of capital has enabled the company to eliminate outstanding debt, simplify its capitalization table, and secure runway for reaching key commercial milestones and attracting future institutional investors. Importantly, the funding supports a robust pipeline of qualified sales opportunities, particularly in the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
Field trials conducted at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi have demonstrated the reliability and efficiency of WaHa’s proprietary AWG systems in extreme desert conditions, including high heat, low humidity, and frequent sandstorms — critical challenges in the Middle East and other water-scarce regions.
Since 2023, WaHa has successfully deployed its systems in West Texas, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, remote UAE desert areas, and Stockholm, showcasing versatility across both arid and temperate climates. The company’s flagship WaHa Vaporator® technology, protected by 14 patent families and 18 granted patents globally, enables off-grid, modular water generation and integrates seamlessly with HVAC and agricultural systems.
Commercial Debut at WETEX 2025
WaHa is set to launch its first commercially available AWG unit at WETEX 2025 in Dubai (September 30 – October 2). The unit will target utilities, industrial operators, and real estate developers seeking sustainable, decentralized access to clean water.
Led by Chairman Mike Phillips and CEO Frank Ramirez, WaHa is advancing climate-resilient water technology to address global water scarcity through energy-efficient solutions. Its patented vapor collection system redefines atmospheric water harvesting by enabling reliable operation even in the most challenging environmental conditions.
In parallel, the company is in active discussions for commercial manufacturing, global distribution, and long-term service partnerships, reinforcing its readiness to scale and serve both public and private sector water needs.
