Ras Al Khaimah named global tourism leader Phillipa Harrison as CEO of RAKTDA

The Government of Ras Al Khaimah has announced the appointment of Phillipa Harrison, former Managing Director of Tourism Australia, as the new Chief Executive Officer of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA).

Harrison will lead the Emirate’s ambitious vision to position itself as the “Destination of the Future”, bringing with her extensive experience in global tourism management and destination marketing.

Leadership to Drive Tourism Growth

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAKTDA’s Executive Committee, emphasized the importance of tourism in Ras Al Khaimah’s economic growth:

“Tourism is at the heart of Ras Al Khaimah’s strategy, it is our fastest-growing sector and we’ve achieved remarkable milestones in a short period of time. Ms. Harrison brings with her a depth of knowledge and leadership experience, most recently with Tourism Australia, that gives us confidence in her ability to align with Ras Al Khaimah’s ambitious goals and strategic targets in the tourism sector.”

Building on Record Visitor Growth

Under its strategic roadmap, Ras Al Khaimah is advancing its position as a leading sustainable tourism destination. The Emirate welcomed 650,000 visitors in H1 2025 alone, with the goal of reaching 3.5 million annual visitors by 2030.

Phillipa Harrison, speaking on her new role, said:

“I’m honored to join at such an exciting time. Ras Al Khaimah has already established itself as an international success story, and I look forward to unlocking even more growth in the years ahead.”

Tourism Expertise from Australia to the UAE

Harrison’s global experience—most notably her leadership of Tourism Australia, where she played a pivotal role in strengthening the country’s global tourism appeal—positions her to drive RAKTDA’s ambitious international agenda. Her appointment signals a continued focus on innovation, sustainability, and global partnerships in Ras Al Khaimah’s tourism sector.

A Bold Vision for the Future

The Government of Ras Al Khaimah aims to elevate the Emirate as one of the Middle East’s most dynamic destinations, balancing natural beauty with sustainable development. With Ms. Harrison at the helm, RAKTDA is expected to accelerate its international campaigns, attract new tourism investments, and expand visitor offerings.
