Delta Community Credit Union Promotes Abdul Hussain to Chief Risk Officer

Atlanta, Georgia — January 2, 2026: Delta Community Credit Union, Georgia’s largest credit union, has announced the promotion of Abdul Hussain to the position of Chief Risk Officer (CRO). Hussain succeeds Bill Buchanan, who retired in December 2025 after serving as the credit union’s CRO since 2012.

In his new role, Hussain will join Delta Community’s executive leadership team, reporting directly to the board of directors and the chief executive officer. He will also continue to serve as the organization’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), a position he has held since 2016.

A Strategic Appointment for Continued Growth

Welcoming the promotion, Hank Halter, CEO of Delta Community Credit Union, said:

“We are excited to have Abdul serve Delta Community in this new capacity. He brings strategic continuity, a collaborative management style, and deep technical expertise that will help us sustain sound operational practices and deliver innovative, member-focused banking services. I also want to commend Bill for his exemplary leadership and effort during his 14 years with our credit union.”

Hussain’s promotion reflects the organization’s continued commitment to strong governance, innovation, and member-centric financial solutions as it expands its footprint across Georgia and beyond.

An Experienced Leader in Risk and Information Security

Abdul Hussain joined Delta Community Credit Union in 2016 and has since been a key figure in shaping the organization’s information security and risk management strategies. With over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, Hussain brings a robust understanding of risk frameworks, cybersecurity, and compliance.

In his expanded role, he will lead enterprise-wide risk management initiatives, oversee regulatory compliance programs, and continue enhancing Delta Community’s information security infrastructure.

“I am honored to assume this expanded role and further support Delta Community’s commitment to its members and the greater metro Atlanta community,” Hussain said. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation Bill established and contributing to the credit union’s ongoing success and growth.”

Academic and Professional Background

Hussain holds an MBA in Technology Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Southern Polytechnic State University. He also carries multiple professional certifications in information security and risk management, underscoring his technical and leadership expertise.
