Cybersecurity Startup Rein Security Raises $8 Mn in Funding

Tel Aviv / New York, January 2026:Rein Security, a cybersecurity startup focused on modern application and AI security, has raised $8 million in funding in a round led by Glilot Capital.

The round also saw participation from prominent cybersecurity leaders, including Ofer Ben-Noon, CEO of Talon and co-founder of Argus Cyber Security; Amir Jerbi, founder of Aqua Security; and Yoav Alon, CTO of Orca Security.

Founders with Deep Cybersecurity Pedigree

Founded in 2024, Rein Security was started by Matan Bar-Efrat (CEO and co-founder) and Netanel Rubin (CTO and co-founder), both alumni of Unit 8200, Israel’s elite military intelligence unit known for producing leading cybersecurity entrepreneurs.

After his service in Unit 8200, Bar-Efrat worked as European sales manager at Cyberbit before the company was acquired by Elbit Systems. He later served as regional manager for the Netherlands at Elbit Systems.

Rubin also served in Unit 8200 before joining Check Point, where he led the vulnerability research team. In 2018, he founded Holcy, a cybersecurity startup that was acquired by Elbit Systems in 2020. Following the acquisition, Rubin became head of strategic cyber technologies at Elbit and was later appointed CTO of the company’s cyber division.

Rein Security currently operates out of Tel Aviv and New York and has a team of around 23 employees.

A Unified Platform for Modern Application Security

Rein Security is addressing persistent gaps in application security (AppSec) and AI-driven systems, where organizations often rely on fragmented tools that generate theoretical risk alerts rather than actionable insights.

The company has built a unified AppSec platform that allows security teams to manage all application security operations from a single interface. The platform covers critical areas such as API security and software composition analysis (SCA), using real-time production data to identify genuine security risks in live environments.

By analyzing how applications actually behave in production, Rein enables security teams to see which APIs and open-source libraries are actively used and which vulnerabilities can realistically be exploited. This approach helps organizations prioritize the most critical threats, reduce alert fatigue, and resolve issues faster.

Shifting AppSec from Assumptions to Reality

According to Rein Security, traditional application security tools often rely on static analysis and assumptions, leading to wasted effort on vulnerabilities that pose little real-world risk.

“Security teams have been forced to play guesswork for far too long,” said Matan Bar-Efrat, co-founder and CEO of Rein Security. “We founded Rein to give CISOs and AppSec leaders the ability to protect every app, model, library, and API without disruption. By seeing exactly what happens in production, teams can fix real issues quickly instead of spending excessive time on investigation and analysis.”

Growing Focus on AppSec and AI Security

As enterprises increasingly deploy cloud-native applications and AI-driven systems, application security has become a top priority for CISOs. Rein Security’s funding comes amid rising investor interest in next-generation AppSec platforms that focus on runtime visibility, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

With backing from leading cybersecurity investors and founders, Rein Security is positioning itself as a new-generation application security platform designed for modern, production-grade environments.
