New Delhi, India, Feb, 6, 2026 – Octobotics Tech Pvt. Ltd., an industrial robotics startup focused on advanced inspection solutions, has successfully closed its Series Seed funding round of approximately ₹10 crore. The round was led by Navam Capital, with participation from BYT Capital.
The fresh capital will be used to accelerate product development, strengthen field validation, and support international expansion, as Octobotics scales its presence across high-risk, asset-intensive industries.
Building AI-Powered Robotics for Harsh Industrial Environments
Founded in 2020 by Ishan Bhatnagar and Gulshan Kumar, Octobotics develops AI-enabled, vertically integrated Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) robotics platforms designed to operate in harsh and hazardous environments. The company’s solutions cater to sectors such as oil and gas, chemicals and petrochemicals, marine, power, fertilizers, and railways, where safety, uptime, and inspection accuracy are mission-critical.
Octobotics currently works with leading organizations including the Indian Navy, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, Saudi S-Chem, Aarti Industries, and GSFC, and reported ₹2 crore in annual revenue in the last financial year.
Funding to Drive Certification and Global Expansion
“This capital will support R&D for vertical integration and the pursuit of IECEx and ATEX certifications, while expanding our operations in India, Singapore, and the Middle East,” said Ishan Bhatnagar and Gulshan Kumar, Co-Founders of Octobotics.
They added that Octobotics follows a distribution-led deployment model, allowing its robotic systems to work alongside human operators while significantly reducing manual intervention in dangerous inspection zones.
Solving High-Risk Inspection Challenges
In industries where infrastructure assets are exposed to corrosion, material fatigue, and extreme operating conditions, manual inspection remains both risky and inefficient. Areas such as confined spaces, elevated structures, corroded surfaces, and complex geometries are particularly challenging to inspect using traditional methods.
Octobotics addresses these challenges by:
-
Automating hazardous inspection tasks
-
Capturing high-fidelity sensor and robotic data
-
Applying predictive analytics to convert field measurements into actionable asset integrity insights
This approach enables early defect detection, reduces operational risk, and helps operators minimise unplanned downtime by maintaining a real-time, decision-ready view of asset health.
Investor Confidence in Vertically Integrated Robotics
Commenting on the investment, Dr. Anjan Ray, Investment Partner at Navam Capital, said Octobotics is solving specific and pressing challenges within critical infrastructure maintenance.
“Their focus on a vertically integrated technology stack combined with a scalable distribution model positions them well to serve the global industrial inspection market,” he noted.
Products Built for Scale and Safety
Octobotics’ growing product portfolio includes:
-
PA RailScan: A PAUT-based system for rail track weld inspection, delivering consistent defect detection and repeatable inspection quality at scale.
-
Weld Sensei: An automated inspection platform designed for precision data acquisition in hazardous environments where manual inspection is unsafe or impractical.
-
Reach Master: A specialised NDT tool built for hard-to-reach and high-elevation inspection zones.
Founders with Global Operations Experience
The founders first met at MERI Kolkata and later built careers in complex international operations. Ishan Bhatnagar previously managed maritime automation and operations at Singapore-based BW Maritime, while Gulshan Kumar worked as an Operations & Maintenance Engineer at Belgian dredging major D.E.M.E.
Inspired by the “Make in India” initiative, the duo returned to India to build data-driven, field-ready inspection robotics for critical infrastructure.
With fresh funding and growing industry adoption, Octobotics is positioning itself as a key player in the global shift toward safer, smarter, and more autonomous industrial inspection.
