Wipro Launches AI Unit, Appoints Nagendra Bandaru as CEO to Drive AI Growth

Wipro has announced the launch of a new artificial intelligence (AI)-focused business unit, alongside key leadership changes, as part of its broader strategy to accelerate AI-led growth.

The company has appointed Nagendra Bandaru as the Chief Executive Officer of the newly formed unit, signaling a major shift towards building advanced AI-driven capabilities.

Strategic Pivot Towards AI-Led Growth

Wipro’s new AI business unit will focus on developing agentic AI solutions and creating new AI-powered revenue streams.

The initiative is aligned with the company’s vision of operating in a “services as software” environment, where traditional IT services are increasingly integrated with automation and intelligent systems.

Srini Pallia emphasized that this move will enhance Wipro’s ability to deliver measurable outcomes for clients and strengthen its position in the evolving digital economy.

Leadership Appointment: Nagendra Bandaru

Nagendra Bandaru, a long-time Wipro veteran with nearly three decades of experience, previously served as President and Managing Partner of Technology Services Global Business Lines (GBL).

In his new role as CEO of the AI unit, Bandaru will:

  • Lead AI strategy and innovation initiatives
  • Drive development of enterprise-grade AI solutions
  • Oversee integration of AI across Wipro’s service offerings

He will continue to report directly to CEO Srini Pallia.

Leadership Reshuffle Across Key Roles

As part of the restructuring, Wipro has also made additional leadership changes:

  • Kanwar Singh, formerly of Accenture, has been appointed as President and Managing Partner of Technology Services GBL, succeeding Bandaru.
  • Suzanne Dann, CEO of the Americas-2 Strategic Market Unit, has stepped down to pursue opportunities outside the company.

The Americas-2 unit is a significant contributor to Wipro’s business, accounting for nearly one-third of its revenue and covering key markets such as Canada and major U.S. industry verticals.

Building an AI-First Business Model

The newly launched AI unit will consolidate Wipro’s existing technology assets and platforms, including solutions across:

  • Lending and financial services
  • Aviation cargo and logistics
  • Healthcare and enterprise systems

In addition, the company plans to incubate new AI-driven products and services, supported by:
