Korean-inspired lifestyle and gifting brand Uni Seoul has raised ₹35 crore (approximately US$3.6 million) in a Series A funding round co-led by Riverwalk Holdings and Sauce.vc, with participation from Panthera Peak Ventures and existing angel investors.
The fresh capital will support the company’s ambitious expansion plans, including opening new retail outlets in premium malls and high-footfall shopping destinations, strengthening supply chain capabilities, expanding its private-label portfolio, and increasing its presence on quick-commerce platforms.
Funding to Accelerate Omnichannel Growth Strategy
The Pune-based startup intends to use the investment to scale both its physical and digital retail footprint as demand for Korean-inspired products continues to grow among Indian consumers.
According to co-founder Gaurav Karmani, the funding will help Uni Seoul broaden its product assortment, improve store experience standards, and create a more consistent brand experience across all customer touchpoints.
The company is also investing in operational efficiencies to support its next phase of growth and improve customer access to its products across India.
Uni Seoul Riding India’s Korean Culture Wave
Founded in 2023 by Gaurav Karmani and Mohit Khurana, Uni Seoul has positioned itself as a destination for Korean-inspired lifestyle, gifting, and everyday products.
The startup follows an offline-first retail strategy, allowing customers to discover and experience products in-store while building a strong brand presence through physical retail locations.
The company currently operates 15 stores across major cities, including:
- Bengaluru
- Mumbai
- Pune
- Hyderabad
- Ahmedabad
- Nashik
Its retail format targets young consumers and gifting buyers seeking affordable, trend-driven products influenced by Korean culture and design aesthetics.
Product Portfolio Spans Over 1,000 SKUs
Uni Seoul offers a diverse range of products across multiple lifestyle categories.
Its portfolio includes more than 1,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs) covering:
- Plush toys
- Home décor
- Stationery
- Travel accessories
- Bags
- Beauty products
- Gift items
Products are priced between ₹99 and ₹2,999, making the brand accessible to a broad consumer base while catering to impulse purchases and gifting occasions.
Expansion Plans: From 15 Stores to 500 Retail Touchpoints
The startup has outlined aggressive growth targets for the coming years.
In the near term, Uni Seoul plans to expand its retail network from 15 stores to more than 50 locations across India’s major metropolitan markets.
Over the next five years, the company aims to establish 500 retail touchpoints, combining company-owned outlets with a franchise-led expansion strategy.
The move reflects increasing confidence in organized lifestyle retail and the growing popularity of Korean-inspired consumer products in India.
Quick-Commerce Becomes a Key Growth Channel
Beyond physical retail expansion, Uni Seoul is strengthening its digital distribution strategy by partnering with leading quick-commerce platforms.
The company plans to increase its presence on:
- Blinkit
- Zepto
- Swiggy Instamart
The strategy is designed to capitalize on rising demand for instant gifting solutions, impulse purchases, and same-day product delivery.
As quick commerce continues to expand beyond groceries into lifestyle and gifting categories, brands like Uni Seoul are leveraging these platforms to reach a wider audience and improve customer convenience.
Growing Demand for Korean Lifestyle Products in India
Uni Seoul’s growth reflects a broader consumer trend driven by the popularity of Korean culture, entertainment, beauty, and lifestyle products among Indian consumers.
The increasing influence of K-pop, Korean dramas, skincare products, and contemporary Korean design has created new opportunities for brands that cater to this growing market segment.
Industry observers believe the category remains underpenetrated, providing significant room for organized retailers to build scalable businesses around Korean-inspired products and experiences.
Outlook
With fresh funding, an expanding store network, and growing quick-commerce partnerships, Uni Seoul is positioning itself to become a leading player in India’s lifestyle and gifting retail segment.
The company’s focus on combining physical retail, private-label products, and digital commerce channels could help it capitalize on changing consumer preferences while building a recognizable lifestyle brand in one of the world’s fastest-growing retail markets.
