LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo has unveiled the company’s first bipedal humanoid robot, marking a major step in LG’s push into robotics, artificial intelligence and next-generation mobility. The company plans to officially launch the humanoid robot in the first quarter of 2027.
The prototype was showcased during Koo Kwang-mo’s meeting with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at Nvidia’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California. The meeting also resulted in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between LG and Nvidia covering strategic cooperation across humanoid robotics, AI-powered factories and mobility.
LG’s First Bipedal Humanoid Robot
LG’s new robot features a human-like upper body and two legs, differentiating it from the company’s existing wheeled robotics platforms.
Its design bears similarities to LG Electronics’ CLOiD home robot, which was introduced at CES 2026. However, while CLOiD uses wheels for movement, the newly revealed platform adopts a bipedal structure designed to more closely resemble human movement.
LG has not yet disclosed detailed specifications or commercial pricing for the robot.
The company, however, plans to officially launch the humanoid platform in Q1 2027.
LG and Nvidia Deepen AI and Robotics Partnership
The humanoid robot was unveiled as LG and Nvidia agreed to strengthen strategic cooperation.
The partnership will focus on three major areas:
- Humanoid robotics
- AI-powered factories
- Future mobility
The collaboration reflects the growing convergence between artificial intelligence, robotics and industrial automation.
Nvidia’s AI computing technologies have become an important part of the emerging robotics ecosystem, while LG brings expertise across consumer electronics, manufacturing, mobility and industrial technology.
Koo Kwang-mo and Jensen Huang Reconnect
The meeting marked the second interaction between Koo Kwang-mo and Jensen Huang within a few months.
Huang previously visited LG’s Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, in June. The two executives held a private meeting that lasted approximately an hour and discussed potential areas of cooperation.
Following the latest meeting at Nvidia’s California headquarters, the companies moved forward with the strategic MOU.
The executives also exchanged messages on the box containing a miniature version of LG’s new bipedal robot and posed together with the prototype.
Humanoid Robots Enter LG’s Technology Roadmap
LG’s move into bipedal humanoid robotics represents an expansion of its broader technology strategy.
The company has already developed robotics solutions under its CLOi platform, including robots designed for homes, commercial environments and industrial applications.
The new bipedal platform could potentially expand LG’s robotics ambitions into environments where human-like movement and interaction are important.
However, the company has not yet provided details on the robot’s intended commercial applications, technical capabilities or deployment strategy.
AI Factories and Future Mobility
The partnership with Nvidia also extends beyond humanoid robots.
LG and Nvidia plan to cooperate on AI-powered factories, an area where artificial intelligence can be used to improve manufacturing automation, predictive maintenance, production planning and operational efficiency.
The two companies will also explore opportunities in mobility, reflecting the broader transformation of the automotive industry toward software-defined vehicles, connected systems and AI-enabled transportation.
The combination of robotics, AI infrastructure and mobility could become an important part of LG’s future growth strategy.
What LG’s Humanoid Robot Launch Means
The planned 2027 launch places LG among companies investing in the rapidly developing humanoid robotics market.
For LG, the opportunity extends beyond building a standalone robot. The company’s existing capabilities in electronics, manufacturing, AI-enabled devices and mobility could allow it to connect humanoid robotics with a wider technology ecosystem.
The partnership with Nvidia could further strengthen that strategy by combining LG’s hardware and manufacturing capabilities with Nvidia’s AI computing and software ecosystem.
With the commercial launch expected in the first quarter of 2027, more details about LG’s humanoid robot, its capabilities and target markets are likely to emerge as development progresses.
