Zerodha co-founder and investor Nikhil Kamath has invested around ₹200 crore in CtrlS Datacenters, one of India’s major hyperscale data centre operators. Entrepreneur Sreeram Reddy Vanga has also invested approximately ₹50 crore in the company.
The fresh capital is expected to support CtrlS’s infrastructure expansion and data centre capacity build-out as demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence and digital services continues to grow across India.
Nikhil Kamath Backs India’s Data Centre Infrastructure
The investment comes at a time when India’s data centre industry is experiencing rising demand from enterprises, cloud providers and hyperscalers.
AI workloads, cloud adoption and the rapid digitisation of businesses are increasing the need for high-capacity, secure and reliable digital infrastructure.
Kamath said the next decade’s technology shifts, including AI and cloud computing, will depend heavily on data centre infrastructure. He also highlighted the need for India’s digital infrastructure to keep pace with the country’s technology ambitions.
CtrlS Plans Further Capacity Expansion
Founded by Sridhar Pinnapureddy, CtrlS has built a significant presence in India’s hyperscale data centre market.
The company currently operates 19 data centres across nine major Indian markets, with more than 370 MW of capacity. It also has around 4.4 GW of projects at different stages of development.
CtrlS serves a broad customer base that includes:
- Enterprises
- Cloud service providers
- Financial institutions
- Government organisations
- Digital businesses
The company has positioned its infrastructure around high availability, security, operational reliability and sustainability.
According to CtrlS founder and CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy, the new investors share the company’s long-term view of India’s digital infrastructure requirements and will support its efforts to expand faster.
CtrlS Raises ₹7,000 Crore From CPP Investments
The latest investment follows a major capital raise by CtrlS earlier this year.
In June 2026, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) invested approximately ₹7,000 crore in CtrlS at a reported valuation of $4.7 billion.
The investment highlighted growing institutional investor interest in India’s data centre infrastructure, particularly as AI and cloud computing increase demand for computing capacity.
AI and Cloud Drive India’s Data Centre Opportunity
India’s expanding digital economy is creating significant opportunities for data centre operators.
The growth of generative AI, enterprise cloud adoption, digital public infrastructure and data-intensive applications is increasing demand for computing and storage capacity.
For operators such as CtrlS, the challenge is not simply adding data centre capacity. They also need to provide reliable power, connectivity, security and energy-efficient infrastructure at scale.
The growing focus on sustainability is particularly important as data centres become increasingly energy-intensive.
Investors See Long-Term Digital Infrastructure Potential
Sreeram Reddy Vanga said India’s AI and cloud ambitions will require world-class digital infrastructure at scale. He also highlighted his long-standing association with CtrlS founder Sridhar Pinnapureddy and confidence in the company’s growth trajectory.
For Kamath, the investment represents a bet on the infrastructure underpinning India’s next wave of technological growth.
As AI adoption accelerates, data centres are increasingly becoming strategic infrastructure rather than simply real estate or IT facilities.
CtrlS’s latest funding could therefore help it expand capacity at a time when India’s AI and cloud ecosystem is entering a major growth phase.
