Verandah, a Mumbai-based line of conscientious luxury resort and swimwear, has raised $1.1 million in a seed fundraising round (about Rs. 8 crores INR). Mike Novogratz (CEO, Galaxy Investment Partners), Neeraj Arora (former CBO, WhatsApp), Lydia Jett (Partner, SoftBank Vision Fund), PDS Venture (PDS Multinational Fashions’ venture tech portfolio), and other prominent financial community members from New York and Mumbai are among the marquee investors.
Verandah, founded in 2012 by Anjali Patel Mehta, creates happy, boho-luxe, elegant, fuss-free print and story-based travel separates using extremely soft and artisanal fabrics from India and hand embroidery. For the first few years of its existence, Verandah was primarily a local brand, but it has since evolved into a story-driven luxury resort label. Its headquarters are in Mumbai, but it has partners and staff in New York and Italy. This month, the brand launched a global direct to consumer e-commerce site based in the United States.
