Block CEO Jack Dorsey is leading the charge to form a nonprofit that will assist bitcoin developers in defending themselves against litigation and other legal issues.
In an open letter to bitcoin developers, Dorsey stated that the Bitcoin Legal Defense Fund “aims to minimise legal issues that prevent software developers from actively developing bitcoin.”
“The main purpose of this Fund is to defend developers from lawsuits regarding their activities in the bitcoin ecosystem, including finding and retaining defense counsel, developing litigation strategy, and paying legal bills,” Dorsey, Morcos and White said in the letter.
