Indian space technology company Kepler Aerospace has raised $8 million in seed funding to expand its space-based Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities and scale its space infrastructure businesses.
The round was led by Blue Ashva Capital and co-led by Finvolve India Accelerator, along with other investors.
The funding represents Kepler Aerospace’s first external capital raise since the company was founded in 2018. The company plans to use the investment to accelerate satellite deployment, expand mission operations and strengthen its avionics technology platform.
Funding to Support Swarming ISR Satellite Deployment
A major priority for the newly raised capital will be the development and deployment of Kepler’s swarming ISR satellite systems.
The company has secured two IDEX prime contracts to provide swarming ISR constellations for India’s defence space ecosystem. These programmes are supported by approximately $4 million in IDEX grants.
Kepler plans to use part of its new funding to deploy the first six swarming ISR satellites under these programmes.
The company’s broader objective is to enable persistent intelligence from space while reducing the time required to turn satellite observations into actionable information.
Building an Integrated Space Infrastructure Platform
Rather than focusing on a single component of the space industry, Kepler Aerospace is developing an integrated technology stack covering multiple layers of a space mission.
Its platform spans:

- Avionics and subsystems
- Ground infrastructure
- Mission operations
- Intelligence delivery
- Communications and tracking
The company says this integrated approach is designed to support secure, reliable and scalable space missions across defence, strategic and commercial applications.
Mission Operations Business Expands
Kepler’s Mission Operations as a Service business is already serving nearly all Indian space companies, according to the company.
It also acts as the primary mission operator for several ISRO satellites.
The company operates a network of more than 70 ground stations, providing services that include satellite communication, tracking, telemetry, command and mission operations.
The latest funding will help Kepler expand this business alongside its Avionics as a Service offering.
Focus on Low-Latency Intelligence From Space
The company’s technology strategy is built around the growing requirement for continuous and timely intelligence from space.
As defence and national security systems become increasingly data-driven, persistent monitoring and faster access to intelligence are becoming strategically important.
Kepler aims to reduce intelligence latency from months to minutes by combining satellite systems, automated mission operations, ground infrastructure and intelligence capabilities.
Its swarming satellite approach is designed to allow multiple spacecraft to operate as a coordinated system rather than functioning solely as independent satellites.
Founders Bring ISRO and Space Engineering Experience
Kepler Aerospace was founded by Navneet Singh, Founder and CEO, and Kiran V. Sharma, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer.
The founders first met during their time in India’s space ecosystem at ISRO and bring complementary experience in spacecraft systems and advanced space missions.
Sharma was associated with a lunar nano-rover project at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, while Singh was part of the Indian nanosatellite programme at ISRO.
Their combined experience has shaped Kepler’s focus on satellite systems, avionics, defence technologies and mission infrastructure.
New Capital to Expand Engineering and Operations
Over the next 12 to 24 months, Kepler Aerospace plans to focus on several priorities.
These include deploying the first six swarming ISR satellites, expanding its Mission Operations as a Service and Avionics as a Service businesses, and strengthening its engineering organisation.
The company is also moving into a new facility and plans to add 40 employees to its existing team.
Investors See Sovereign Space Technology Opportunity
Blue Ashva Capital founder Satya Bansal said Kepler’s swarming satellite architecture could significantly shorten the intelligence cycle by allowing satellites to communicate, coordinate and respond in orbit.
Finvolve co-founder and India Accelerator founder and CEO Ashish Bhatia described Kepler as an example of the deep-tech and strategic innovation emerging from India’s expanding space ecosystem.
The investment reflects growing investor interest in companies building technologies beyond traditional launch and satellite manufacturing, particularly in areas connected to defence, intelligence and sovereign space capabilities.
India’s Private Space Ecosystem Moves Deeper Into Defence
Kepler’s funding comes as India’s private space sector expands into increasingly specialised areas, including satellite subsystems, ground infrastructure, mission operations, space-based intelligence and defence applications.
For Kepler, the immediate focus is on converting its existing technology and contracts into operational deployments while building an integrated space infrastructure platform.
The company sees an opportunity not only in India but also in international markets where governments and organisations are seeking sovereign and secure access to space-based intelligence.
With $8 million in fresh capital, Kepler Aerospace is now entering its next phase: moving from technology development toward larger-scale deployment of persistent space intelligence and mission infrastructure.
