Zappfresh Enters Frozen Vegetarian Snacks Market With New Brand Meevaa Foods

NEW DELHIZappfresh, best known for its fresh meat delivery service, has expanded into the frozen vegetarian snacks segment with the launch of a new brand, Meevaa Foods. The move marks the company’s latest step in broadening its ready-to-eat and processed food portfolio beyond meat-based offerings.

Meevaa Foods will debut in Delhi NCR on February 9, followed by launches in Mumbai and Bengaluru from March 1. Zappfresh plans to invest ₹10 crore over the next two to three years to scale its frozen foods business.

Initial Product Lineup and Expansion Plans

As part of its pilot phase, Meevaa Foods will introduce 12 frozen vegetarian products, including samosas, momos, kebabs, and patties. The company plans to expand the product range on a quarterly basis, adding new offerings based on consumer demand and market response.

Zappfresh also expects imports and exports to contribute 15–20% of total frozen food volumes over time, signalling ambitions to build a presence beyond domestic markets.

Strengthening Manufacturing and Processing Capabilities

According to the company, its recent acquisition in the frozen and processed foods segment helped accelerate the launch of Meevaa Foods. The acquisition enabled Zappfresh to bring its frozen food range to market within weeks, while significantly enhancing its manufacturing and processing infrastructure.

The recipes for Meevaa Foods have been curated by Ambrozia, bringing consistency and product expertise to the frozen food portfolio.

Acquisition-Led Growth Strategy

Zappfresh has been actively using acquisitions to enter new categories and geographies. In 2024, the company acquired Mumbai-based meat delivery brand Bonsaro, followed by the acquisition of Dr Meat in 2023, helping it expand into additional markets and strengthen its supply chain.

From Meat Delivery to Multi-Category Food Brand

Founded in 2015 by Deepanshu Manchanda, Zappfresh began as a meat-only delivery startup, promising 90-minute delivery to customers. Over the years, the company has gradually evolved from a niche meat delivery platform into a broader food brand.

In October 2025, Zappfresh was listed on the BSE SME, raising ₹53 crore through a fresh issue of shares. Since its public listing, the company has been steadily expanding beyond its core meat business into adjacent food categories, including frozen and ready-to-eat products.

With Meevaa Foods, Zappfresh is now positioning itself to tap into India’s growing demand for convenient, frozen vegetarian snacks, while leveraging its existing supply chain, processing capabilities, and consumer reach.
