A new cybersecurity-focused venture capital fund, Skinos Ventures, has been launched in Israel with a corpus of $26 million. The fund is primarily backed by renowned cybersecurity entrepreneur Shlomo Kramer, who is also serving as an advisor.
Strong Backing from Cybersecurity Industry Veteran
Shlomo Kramer, co-founder of Check Point, is widely recognized as one of the most influential investors in the cybersecurity ecosystem. Over the years, he has backed major companies such as Palo Alto Networks, along with numerous high-growth startups.
His involvement in Skinos Ventures signals strong confidence in the next wave of cybersecurity innovation, particularly in areas intersecting with artificial intelligence.
Leadership with Deep Industry Expertise
The fund will be led by Yishay Yovel as General Partner. Yovel previously held a key leadership role at Cato Networks, where he served as Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer, contributing to the company’s growth and market positioning.
Before that, he worked in senior roles at Imperva and Trusteer, and played a notable role in advancing the SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) cybersecurity category.
Focus on Early-Stage Cybersecurity and AI Startups
Skinos Ventures plans to invest in approximately five startups at the Seed and Series A stages, with a primary focus on companies operating at the intersection of cybersecurity and AI.
The fund intends to invest around $2.5 million per startup, providing not just capital but also strategic guidance.
“Builders for Builders” Approach
According to Yishay Yovel, the fund aims to go beyond traditional venture investing by actively supporting founders throughout their journey.
He emphasized that the team’s hands-on experience in building and scaling cybersecurity companies—from early-stage ideas to multi-billion-dollar businesses—will be a key differentiator in supporting new ventures.
Early Investments and Pipeline
Skinos Ventures has already made its first two investments. While one of the startups remains in stealth mode, the other is Spectrum, signaling the fund’s active deployment strategy.
Conclusion
With strong backing, experienced leadership, and a focused investment strategy, Skinos Ventures is poised to play a significant role in shaping the next generation of cybersecurity and AI startups. As cyber threats grow more complex, early-stage innovation backed by specialized funds like Skinos could become critical to the future of global digital security.
