CDK Names Sudhakar Ramakrishna as President and CEO

October 5, 2026

CDK has appointed Sudhakar Ramakrishna as President and Chief Executive Officer, as the automotive technology company prepares for its next phase of growth. Ramakrishna will also join the CDK Board of Directors, effective October 5.

He succeeds Brian MacDonald, who is retiring from his role and will continue supporting Brookfield and CDK as a senior strategic advisor during the planned leadership transition.

Sudhakar Ramakrishna Brings Decades of Technology Leadership

Ramakrishna brings extensive experience in enterprise technology and software, having worked across cloud, mobility, networking, cybersecurity and collaboration markets.

Before joining CDK, he served as President and CEO of SolarWinds, an infrastructure management software provider. Earlier, he led Pulse Secure, working with customers and partners operating in complex and mission-critical technology environments.

His previous leadership experience also includes senior roles at Citrix, Polycom, Motorola, 3Com and U.S. Robotics.

His background in scaling technology businesses and developing enterprise software is expected to support CDK as the company continues expanding its technology platform for automotive retailers.

Brian MacDonald to Support Transition as Strategic Advisor

MacDonald will retire from his executive position after leading CDK through a significant period of transformation.

Doug Bayerd, managing partner in Brookfield’s Private Equity Group and a director on CDK’s board, credited MacDonald with helping strengthen the company’s strategy, product roadmap and financial foundation.

Bayerd said Ramakrishna’s experience in technology leadership, innovation and customer-focused product development positions him to build on the progress made under MacDonald’s leadership.

CDK Invests More Than $500 Million in Platform Transformation

CDK enters the leadership transition following several years of significant technology investment.

The company has invested more than $500 million in evolving its platform from an industry-focused system of record into a broader system of intelligence and engagement.

The transformation comes as technology becomes increasingly important to automotive retail operations, including customer engagement, analytics, workflow automation and decision-making.

Automotive Data Creates Foundation for AI and Analytics

CDK says its automotive-specific data represents a significant foundation for its next phase of technology development.

The company’s platform includes approximately 257 million unique customer IDs, representing most U.S. consumers and vehicles on its platform, according to the company.

This data can support the integration of AI, analytics and customer insights directly into automotive retail workflows.

Rather than requiring customers to adopt completely separate systems, CDK’s strategy is to embed greater intelligence into the tools and processes automotive businesses already use.

Ramakrishna Focuses on Customer Value and Innovation

Commenting on his appointment, Ramakrishna said CDK has the people, scale, expertise and product depth needed to help automotive customers gain greater value from its technology solutions.

He highlighted innovation, disciplined execution and reliable delivery as priorities for the company’s next phase.

Ramakrishna also said he plans to spend time with CDK’s customers, employees and partners as he takes on the new role.

What the Leadership Change Means for CDK

The appointment comes at a time when automotive retailers are increasingly relying on software, data and AI to manage business operations and customer relationships.

With its automotive-specific technology platform, large data footprint and significant investment in product development, CDK is positioning itself to expand the role of intelligence and automation across automotive retail.

Ramakrishna’s enterprise technology background could help the company accelerate this strategy while maintaining its focus on customer outcomes and reliable technology delivery.
