Coimbatore-based agri startup VilFresh raises Rs 1.15 cr from Native Angels

Native Angels, a Tier II and III region-focused angel investor network, led a Rs 1.15 crore angel fundraising round for Coimbatore-based agro firm Laymen Agro Ventures, which operates under the VilFresh brand. Upaya Social Ventures and Sangam Ventures also took part in the round.

The business hopes to use the funds to expand to five cities, with Tirupur and Madurai on the horizon.

VilFresh was founded in July 2016 by academician-turned-entrepreneur Selvakumar Varadarajan to provide farm-fresh vegetables to metropolitan regions. It all began with buying milk from dairy producers and distributing it to clients. Milk was packaged in a safe and sanitary manner, according to the company, and fresh milk was sent to the consumer within a few hours.The startup procures milk by 4am and packages and delivers it by 7am.
