Polaris Smart Metering Raises ₹710 Cr from BII to Expand Smart Meter Network in India

Polaris Smart Metering has secured ₹710 crore (approximately $80 million) in financing from British International Investment for its subsidiary, Hooghly Smart Metering.

The investment will be used to deploy over 22 lakh smart meters in West Bengal and expand the company’s advanced metering infrastructure across the region.

In addition to electricity, the company is also expanding into smart gas metering, with around 1.6 million meters installed.

India’s smart metering drive is being powered by the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), which has an outlay of nearly ₹3 lakh crore.

The government aims to install 25 crore smart meters by 2027, making it one of the largest energy infrastructure upgrades globally.
