BEYOND Rebrands as Tech Festival, Sets May 2027 Return to Macao

Macao — BEYOND, the technology and innovation event formerly known as BEYOND Expo, will return to The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo from May 26 to 29, 2027, organisers said, as it adopts a broader global identity spanning technology, investment, entrepreneurship and media.

The rebranding reflects the evolution of the event since its launch in 2021. Organisers said BEYOND has developed from a technology exhibition into a broader platform connecting startups, investors, family offices, policymakers, technology companies, developers and media.

The organisers said more than 160,000 participants from more than 120 countries and regions have attended BEYOND over the past five years.

Six pillars underpin new BEYOND identity

Under the new structure, BEYOND will operate across six interconnected areas:

  • BEYOND Expo — showcasing emerging technologies, startups and new products.
  • BEYOND Summit — bringing together leaders and innovators across areas including artificial intelligence, robotics, healthcare, new energy and Web3.
  • BEYOND Awards — recognising technology companies and innovations.
  • BEYOND Ventures — connecting startups with venture capital firms, family offices and other investors.
  • BEYOND Spotlight — providing platforms for product launches, media engagement and international visibility.
  • BEYOND Connect — focused on networking, private gatherings, dinners, meetups and community events.

The organisers said the six-part structure is intended to connect technology with capital, visibility and business relationships beyond the traditional exhibition floor.

BEYOND 2027 targets 35,000 participants

BEYOND expects its 2027 edition to attract more than 35,000 participants, alongside more than 1,200 exhibiting companies, 900 investors and 700 media and key opinion leaders.

The programme is expected to feature more than 200 sessions and events, with more than 400 speakers.

The event will continue to cover sectors including artificial intelligence, robotics, new energy, healthcare, Web3, investment and regional innovation.

Dr. Gang Lu, co-founder of BEYOND, said the organisation’s focus had expanded beyond products and exhibitions toward people, ideas, communities and experiences.

“BEYOND reflects what our event has become,” Lu said, describing the event as a platform where founders can launch companies, investors can discover emerging innovators and media can tell stories about new technologies.

Investment remains a key focus

Investment will remain a central component of the 2027 event through BEYOND Ventures.

The programme will include startup pitching and demonstration opportunities as well as the Global Investment Summit and Wealth Summit, bringing together venture capital firms, family offices, corporate venture investors and other capital providers.

Organisers said the objective is to give startups greater access to investors, business partners and international markets.

The event will also continue Fund at First Pitch, designed to connect emerging companies with investors.

Global platform for product launches and media

BEYOND Spotlight will provide a dedicated platform for companies seeking international exposure.

The programme includes Media Day and Product Launch, giving startups and established technology companies opportunities to introduce products and technologies to an international audience.

The organisers said the initiative is intended to connect companies with international media, investors, buyers and industry partners.

Focus on developers and emerging technology

The expanded BEYOND format will also include hackathons, developer programmes and open-innovation activities.

These initiatives are intended to bring together engineers, developers, designers, AI builders and open-source communities with companies, investors and technology leaders.

The event will also continue its networking and community activities through BEYOND Connect, including private gatherings, dinners, meetups and partner events.

Macao positioned as Asia-global bridge

Organisers said Macao’s location provides BEYOND with a platform to connect Asian technology companies and innovators with international investors, markets and partners.

For global participants, the event is positioned as a gateway to technology companies, talent and innovation emerging across Asia.

Jason Ho, co-founder of BEYOND, said the expanded identity was intended to connect technology and capital with governments, communities, creators and culture.

“From the very beginning, our vision has been to build more than an event—we wanted to create a global platform that connects people, ideas, and opportunities,” Ho said.
